Michael Boom – This character isn’t hard to acquire, but it will cost you your life. Just keep your eyes peeled for a green truck carrying a rocket. Swipe frantically left and right during periods of downtime (roughly 50 times), and achieve a score of at least 40. Crab – To gain Crab, you must be like Crab. Nessie – Sensing a theme here? Use any of the UK or Ireland characters, and be on the lookout for Nessie in a body of water. Like the Hipster Whale, board it to unlock it. The Totem – While playing as any of the characters from Monument Valley, spot the Totem drifting down the river. All it takes is to hop on his back, and you’ll unlock him as a playable character. Hipster Whale will appear swimming amongst the logs during gameplay. Hipster Whale – No better place to start than the company mascot. Merlady is also one of the 11 ocean mascots to unlock the Anglerfish. At the end of your run you will unlock Merlady. Then, jump back two logs and fall from the end of the log. To obtain her, you have to use any non-ocean character and fully cross a river. This article/section may contain spoilers. She also hums occasionally during gameplay, and sighs disdainfully upon death. Also, clams open up to her instead of closing, which is what happens to the rest of the ocean mascots. Merlady makes a disapproving noise when she transforms the princes. 
If you get close to them they will turn into frogs and float up to the surface. While playing as the Merlady, there will be princes with rings trying to propose to Merlady scattered on the map. She also wears a gold bracelet on her left hand. Merlady has dark skin with long dark brown hair, with a gold crown on her head, and a link tail like a mermaid.
